I don't think I can keep dogs as their devotion scares me because of the depth of their need (I'm a strange person). But, I'm committed to sharing my life with cats and "mongrels" are the way to go for me. If I ever did get a pure bred dog (never say never), I think I'd go for something like a Bernese Sennenhund (St. Bernards are just TOO big) or a mix thereof, provided I live in a cool enough place. So, that's my answer.Zhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03348318649247181165noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19332364.post-40067279983505095122007-04-25T23:07:00.000+02:002007-04-25T23:07:00.000+02:00Great post Jilly! Such a fun, interesting read...And your last sentiment is very profound - I never really looked at it this way, but it is true, we and the pets do fill each other's needs.

Beau has the most soulful eyes and just between you and me, I am not a bit upset with him for biting BooBoo (he probably sensed your exasperation!)...isahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16691699331129121806noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19332364.post-15073326307780541102007-04-23T18:58:00.000+02:002007-04-23T18:58:00.000+02:00Hi, I found your blog on accident really was looki...Hi, I found your blog on accident really was looking at the photo blog which is amazing and then I started reading about you. Wow, what a life and you have lived everywhere! Are you from the States originally? I know what you mean about dogs! I think most dogs pick their owners. I have 4 dogs at present. I live with my cousin who has a very old cocker spaniel Buffy who is 17 yrs old.Bless her heart she is blind and deaf and pees the floor but we love her like crazy! I also have 2 sisters 9 yrs old half rottweiler half german shephard. 2 of the best dogs I ever had.The newest addition is Dooley a mini blue daschund who is the love of my life.. I have always had big dogs so he is a new experience for me. In fact, we are going to a big event this weekend the wiener wars of Buda! There will be a weenie dog parade follwed by weenie races all day. It is so much fun. I went last year with a friend's weenie dog and had a blast. I am glad to have my own weenie dog now!Dorothy Parker said that when a lady reaches a certain age it is better to do away with the men in your life and replace them with dogs. They are much better companions! I agree. I have a friend who raises daschunds and she has over 20 dogs. They all live in the house with her and a lab named Cat. She went thru 2 difficult divorces and she says that every time she thinks about getting into another relationship she just buys another dog. Then she laughs and says you can tell I have thought about it alot!My Uncle brought a sheepdog home when we were little and she was pregnant to boot. We had so much fun with that dog. She would follow us to school and then come back for us when we got out! I personally have never met a dog I didn't like! You must be a good person because a dog can tell, oh yes they can!poodyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10218496818838737975noreply@blogger.com
