Looking outwards...to their new lives

It's the morning of their third day and already they are getting more confident. (Scroll down for the dreadful story of Mistral and Mia - which gets better by the day!)

Last night, when they heard fireworks, they barked (howled) like crazy and wanted to go out. Most dogs are scared. They went off to investigate - I think they thought they heard gunshots and were off to hunt...

And a clean house this morning and already Mia, the worst at walking, is beginning to trot about the garden so much more easily.

Today is bath day - two different products for the skin and each to be left on for five minutes. This should be fun!

Thanks for all the kind comments, but you know looking after dogs is what I do - so it's easy for me.

In the last photo, you see Mia with a couple of the dogs en pension for the New Year - Maya the golden and little, Snowy, the bichon.

Wow! Love the top photo because it clearly shows their remarkable progress. I wish they could talk because I'd love to know their reaction!!

The top photo is just great. We have a saying down here when someone ends up in a great situation. We say the "fell in it". Well I think think these two definitely "fell in it" when you opened your heart to them. They already look like one of the "gang". What a great story!

They look amazing!!! and your view is awesome! It is easier when you are used to dogs being around...currently I have 4(one is a 6 month old King Charles Cavalier Spaniel that the owner dropped off and has yet to return for...3 months later...).....not sure how that happened as I really only wanted one....but there you have it!

This post made me smile - a big smile, with tears in my eyes. What lucky, lucky dogs! They are so beautiful. You can just see their health improving. Wonderful!!

Oh they look so happy! I'm taking care of a pair of goldens right now myself. They are the sweetest dogs. Their dads are very close friends of mine and they are on a Holiday cruise to Hawaii. I get to baby sit these wonderful dogs every time they go off on a trip and I love taking care of them.

Hello Jilly, What a heartwarming, amazing story of Mistral & Mia. I have been very involved with Greyhound rescue in the US for the last 5 years and have 2 of my own rescues (greyhounds). As in the case of Mistral & Mia, the living conditions for these dogs are horriffic. What is so amazing is that they adapt to "pet life" so quickly and despite all their former privations, rescues are the most incredibly loving dogs! We like to say that they "soak up love like a sponge"!
God Bless You all & Best wishes for the New Year and the new lease on life you have given these to dogs!

Not everyone can do this for an abused dog, it isn't their gift. But it's obviously yours that's why they trust you and feel at home. They are home, in their forever home!

It's wonderful to see Mistral on her new perch, scanning the world! It's a bit like the ancient story of Job, who finally is blessed after miserable affliction.

Folks like you and my brother and his wife are angels on earth. They too rescue dogs (and cats) and end up keeping them and loving and caring for them so very well. Thank you so much for sharing this story and please give my heartfelt thanks to the ladies who have helped you accomplish this miracle.
